Choosing a decent hairdresser’s salon is like finding a husband. Indeed, there are plenty of fish in the sea but running this real Mr Right to earth is a really hard mission to accomplish. The same applies to hairdressers. There are plenty of them but how to find out which one is the best? If the haircut effect satisfies you, the stuff is nice, cosmetics of high quality and the prices average then you can say that you’ve managed to find the perfect hairdresser’s salon. When I enter such a facility, the one I’ve never been before and heard anything about, I pay attention to a few issues I’m going to discuss below.
Firstly, hairdresser’s skills
Diplomas, certificates and opinions of others won’t tell you much about the hairdresser who is going to cut your hair. Instead, pay attention to how s/he uses the tools, if s/he applies the cosmetics in the right way, and whether s/he knows how to wash your hair without pulling the hair out. Also, take into consideration whether a hairdresser broads her/his knowledge and tracks the newest hair trends. And the last thing to realize, the speed of haircutting doesn’t translate into its quality. It’s better to spend an hour sitting on the chair rather than leave the salon with unevenly cut hair.
Secondly, hygiene, cleanliness and order
If you notice that the floor of a hairdresser’s salon you made an appointment to is covered with hair, if you can barely see your reflection in the dirty mirrors, and when the brushes collect dust faster than you collect the laundry when it rains – RUN! In a good hairdresser’s salon the entire staff take care of the tools to make them be super clean. All items a hairdresser uses must be disinfected after every use, towels have to be washed up regularly and the floor swept. Generally speaking, a hairdresser’s salon must shine. Just think what might happen if a hairdresser break your skin with dirty scissors?
Thirdly, how to communicate with a hairdresser
When a hairdresser keeps repeating ‘Don’t worry, it’ll be all right’ like a broken record, don’t trust her/him. A good hair stylist should listen to your directions and put forward her/his suggestions. If you really want to get the best hairdo in the world, let the hairdresser use professional cosmetics, apply new haircut methods and use the tools s/he finds the most suitable (even if they look weird to you). However, before the hairdresser proceeds with this, s/he has to recognize the condition of your scalp and strands. Thanks to this, you will enjoy a fabulous hairdo.
